Virgo (August 23 – September 22)

Everything about the Virgo symbol represents the nexus of the zodiac and the astrological year. This sign stands out as unusual among the four mutable signs in astrology, and their tastes are even hard to stereotype to Earth signs also. Virgos are perfectionists, yet rarely ever ask of someone else what they haven’t first asked of themselves – it’s a tendency for self-punishment that they must overcome in this lifetime if they’re too avoid nervous breakdowns and truly find their purpose.

One man once asked: ‘Why did Mercury choose to exalt himself in Virgo and not Gemini?’ Even though they are prone to pass on credit for a job well done to others, make no mistake that Virgos are expects in communication, observing human body language and fancying themselves as detectives-in-making. Their capacity for intelligence and storing mental information is perhaps with no equal in astrology. Quietly, Virgo has amassed the most billionaires per Sun sign in astrology, although this statistic is influenced by the fact most people globally are born in the September season of any given year. Let this not detract from the fact Virgo currently stands as the wealthiest sign in astrology, in financial terms.

Their opposite sign, Pisces, is focused on fantasy and discovering one’s place in the afterlife. Virgo is equally biblical as Pisces, and their opposition forms disagreements and self-discovery of Biblical proportions. Virgo is very much focused in the here and now, concentrating on their definition of reality based on what’s tangible. As a mutable sign, Virgo can be very indirect about their intentions and they also have the martyr syndrome and tendency for self-pity when things go wrong.

Virgo is here to teach us sensitivity and humanity, while breaking new boundaries in what seems like artificial intelligence. They are the ‘sensitive robots’ of the zodiac, teaching us there’s more to life than living through emotions and a lot to be said for self-control, in the service and duty of others. Virgo believes in being put to use, service and all matters concerning health. They are prone to ailments if they do not stop beating themselves up and cutting out the self-pity, when things go wrong. They are perfectionists, but they keen eye for perfection actually makes them very tasteful when they evolve to appreciate beauty in flaws.

In love, Virgos are self-sacrificing at a young age and often struggle with letting themselves go due to unresolved trauma in their childhood stage of life. They can either look for someone to save them in adolescence or, when this first love goes wrong, become very guarded about who they let into their inner circle. Once you’re in the inner circle, you’re treated to some of the most die-hard, loyal and self-sacrificial love that has even been known to man. It’s getting your foot in the door with a Virgo that is the hard part.

I’ve been surrounded by Virgos and people with strong virgo influence in their chart since the day I was born. You’ve nailed them better than anything I’ve ever read.
